Sorry for the delayed reply. I am quite busy again lately and there was not much time for alphaTab. I fully agree that there is a need for that. But I think this should not be a display setting. Whether to have sharps or flats is an attribute of the tuning itself. Also in Guitar Pro, it is an option when specifying the tuning:
Hence it is something that should be stored on the data model and read from the input formats. Two guitars might have the same tuning but one using sharps and the other flats.
