Flywheel Distance-Based "Unloading"?

Not a bug report, more of a rather complicated question.
Right now Flywheel doesn't allow unloading, which can be bypassed with /flywheel backend flywheel:off.
But how beneficial is that (In terms of whether it's worth turning off Flywheel's backend for this), and, for example, will Flywheel have functionality for distance-based unloading in the future?
Also, you can combine this with Iris FLW compatibility… and then you really don’t know what’s the best approach.

Also, apologies if this has already been fixed / implemented - I'm on NeoForge 1.21.1 with Create 6.0.6
