We've just launched DoseRAD2026, a public challenge on real-time 3D radiation dose calculation from CT and MRI. Sharing here because the problem maps cleanly onto MONAI-based pipelines and we'd love to see people from this community participate.
Tasks
Four parallel tasks, all 3D dose prediction:
Photon dose on CT (VMAT)
Photon dose on MRI (MR-linac)
Proton dose on CT
Proton dose on MRI
Inputs / Outputs
Input: 3D CT or MRI volume + beam delivery parameters (MLC apertures for photons, pencil beam parameters for protons)
Output: beam-specific 3D dose distribution
Ground truth: high-fidelity Monte Carlo simulation
Why MONAI users might find it a good fit
Standard 3D volumetric I/O — works directly with MONAI transforms and Dataset pipelines
Containerized submission on grand-challenge.org, same workflow as recent MICCAI challenges
Multimodal conditioning (volume + structured beam params) is a clean testbed for emerging architectures
Physics-informed and hybrid neural-numerical approaches are explicitly welcome
Organization
DoseRAD2026 is run by a consortium of European radiotherapy and medical physics groups — LMU Munich, University of Bern, PSI, GSI Darmstadt, DKFZ Heidelberg, UMC Utrecht, Amsterdam UMC, TU Delft, and Skåne University Hospital Lund.
