Sorry, this is not ready yet for release, because the RGBtoHDMI does not support the necessary encoding. Maybe you can raise an issue in the rgbtohdmi issue thread to make Ian aware if it. Thanks for the reply, and no worries at all I can wait - I just got excited to see there was a device for the C16 in development. I'll try to think of a way to ask Ian politely, I don't want to be yet another entitled internet complainer. ;)

I would also buy 3 pieces at once because the image quality of C16/C116/+4 is poor.

To get this whole thing going again, I need to make some decisions. My current system uses a lumacode signal that needs specific support on the side of the RGBtoHDMI, which has not been comming for two years. So I am pretty much losing hope on this. But I could do some different things where I only have to provide a suitable profile alongside the latest existing version of the RGBtoHDMI software.
But any solutions has its drawbacks, so I wanted to ask your opinion on what you would consider the better of these 2 options:

1. Increase the lumacode transmission speed, so the whole screen content can be transfered without the need to do this specific compressed encoding. But this would render the whole system more unreliable and I expect more error pixels, no matter how finely you tweak the decoder.
2. Sacrifice the border area. By keeping the speed below the threashold what works reasonably well for the Atari 8-bit for example, there is just not enough time to transfer anything beside the 320 horizontal pixels of the screen. So everything outside would show black on the HDMI output.

I would very much prefer option 2, because it would not introduce the risk of overstreching the lumacode system. How important is the border area for demos, games and such? The top and bottom borders would still be visible if you want this, or you can crop them in the upscaler to keep a symmetric appearance.

It would be nice to have access to both options (if possible). Perhaps option 1 would be acceptable? If not, option 2 could be enabled.

Hi, my apologies for the slow reply. I spent last night looking at c16 demos and games to see which/how many (if any) draw in the border areas.

I've not yet found a game which does this but there are quite a few demos and cracktros etc. which do. Most of the time, it's just copper bar style effects, I guess they're just changing the border/background colour with good timing... but there are a few that draw text and graphics in the borders too. So I'm not sure if option 1 is possible but I guess it would be more capable of showing these effects (if they matter to people)? There's a selection of them in the demo compilation here, you have to wait a while for it to get round to the relevant demos...

When I last looked, Ian hadn't repsonded to questions on Github for a little while, I don't know if that's unusual but I hope they are ok, and are just busy with other stuff.

I was able to squeeze the data transfer just enough to allow for a 4 pixel wide horizontal border and this now works nicely with the RGBtoHDMI. While this border is really narrow, it may be enough for programs to convey some necessary information
