Thought: port C code to Zig or Rust

Hi folks, had a thought since I've had to dive into the C code this library wraps fairly regularly and wondered if porting it to something like Zig or Rust eventually would make sense? Obviously they're both a little buzzword-y at the moment and they have different philosophies, however depending on the direction of this library, I was thinking it could definitely help with either the runtime safety or developer experience.

This can totally be closed if it's irrelevant or you have other plans. I just wasn't sure how best to open a question regarding something like this.

Brett Rogerson (@snypelife) we've spent some time looking into Rust as well as other ways to improve how librdkafka can serve the community. Nothing definitive at the moment but we'll be sure to keep the community updated given the community importance of librdkafka.
