When creating a project we should allow to select the java version

One of the first things I do when creating a new project is configure the used java version (what is 1.7 by default).

It would be good if we enhance the wizard to create a new maven project to let the user choose a value and the configure it already accordingly.

Yes but ... the project wizard is Java agnostic, so you'd need to have the m2e.jdt plugin contribute a wizard page where you can propose Java specific tuning.
