ESP IDF manager from eclipse ide plugin 4.x.0 is not working

Describe the bug
the list of installed SDKs is empty

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Take fresh eclipse installation (Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers), currently 2026-03, eclipse-cpp-2026-03-R-win32-x86_64.zip
2. Install IDF plugin via download site https://dl.espressif.com/dl/idf-eclipse-plugin/updates/latest/
3. Open manager view, the list is empty
4. Press 'Manage ESP-IDF Versions', EIM launches
5. Do an installation (I've tired many different)
6. After completed installation close EIM
7. The list is still empty
8. Close and relaunch eclipse
9. The list is still empty
10. Following dialog appears 'ESP-IDF tools installed via EIM have been detected, but this workspace is not configured yet. The IDE needs to complete setup to enable full functionality. Would you like to proceed now?'
11. Pressing Yes leads again to EIM application

Expected behavior
Just installed SDK appears.
Even better the old style approach would be better as I have 20+ different versions already installed, which are working without any problems with old plugin version.

Hi @mmadela We’re really sorry that it’s not working as expected. To quickly analyze what’s causing the issue, could you please share the error log so we can troubleshoot further?

Also try to install a new esp-idf version through EIM and see if that's getting detected. Ideally, when you launch with the existing workspace, it should show the previouly installed idf versions as well.

A fresh 'easy installation' appears on the list.

After taking a brief look on the log, anything should be installed on drive D:, the tool is looking however on drive C:.
It is possible to adjust paths using TOML (configuration) files, this makes the staff inaccessible.

By default, tools are installed on the C drive in Windows—even if you choose to install ESP-IDF on the D drive. This is by design to avoid duplicate tool installations when working with multiple ESP-IDF versions and to help manage disk usage.

Currently, this option is not exposed in the GUI, but it’s something we may reconsider in the future.

I need the D: drive, as the C: drive is much smaller in my case and the all Espressif file are reaching already 140GB.
