Hi,

I noticed this fresh JOSS-paper outline issue for stockplotr.

Tiny outside note, based only on the public issue/README:

A short JOSS outline could probably stay very focused:

1. Summary: stockplotr as an R package for reusable stock-assessment report
   figures/tables.
2. Statement of need: reduce duplicated plotting/reporting work across
   assessment workflows and make outputs easier to cite.
3. Functionality: standard plots/tables, ggplot2/flextable outputs, example
   assessment-report workflow.
4. Availability/reproducibility: installation paths, R-CMD-check status,
   example data, and a minimal runnable example.
5. Citation/release path: clear license, CITATION.cff or citation instructions,
   tagged release, archive/DOI, and paper.md.

Small readiness checks I would do before drafting paper.md:

• confirm the license is explicit and easy to find;
• add/verify CITATION.cff or citation instructions;
• make sure the README example is runnable by a new user;
• decide whether the package is "experimental" or ready enough for the paper;
• collect 2-4 references for related stock-assessment/reporting tools;
• create a tagged release before archive/DOI.

I also do broader readiness/passport checks for research repositories
README/license/citation/release/JOSS/reproducibility boundaries. No pressure;
if this small note is not useful here, please feel free to ignore.
