@Furluge yeah, it's quite expected reaction, because similarity between this two objects is obvious. However, we will not go back to a previous icon, because it had no personality unlike new image. The problem with previous image is you actually can't describe that image with enough details to distinguish Linguist of any other app. You could say "it have icon of translation symbol. Something like letter A and hieroglyph". People would think you talk about "Google Translate" or any thing in the world who uses the same symbol. You may check related comment about it #576 (comment) If you have ideas how to improve logo, you are welcome to discussion and contribution. |

I'm not suggesting you go back to the old one, I figured the similarity to other icons was there. But just about anything is better than it literally looking like shit. :D (And yes I did see the issue about the logo being too colorful.) Hmm, honestly, if you want to build a brand and create an icon, the best advice I can give is to see about enlisting the help of a professional. I don't think anything I suggest is going to up to the task and a professional would avoid such an obvious faux pas as this one. Surely there has to be a graphic designer out there that uses the extension that would be happy to help out there somewhere. |

Yeah, just putting this out there since I don't see anyone else bringing up, but upon seeing the icon change for the first time, the new icon looks like a the common poop symbol 💩. Seriously, look at it, they have the exact same silhouette. I legitimately though perhaps the app had been hacked and turned into malware.
So uh, yeah, not sure who designed this new icon, but you should probably go back to the drawing board. It's way too similar. (And yes, I realize it's supposed to be the tower of babel. But that's not what it looks like shrunken into the size of a toolbar button.)
