I'm having trouble launching KOReader on my reMarkable 2 running the latest firmware (3.25.1.1). I installed KOReader (v2025.10-r1) via the Vellum package manager using the XOVI overlay.
When attempting to launch the script manually via SSH, the process aborts immediately with an FBInk initialization error.
Error Log:
reMarkable: ~/ /home/root/xovi/exthome/appload/koreader/koreader.sh
[FBDepth] Failed to initialize FBInk, aborting!
[FBDepth] Failed to initialize FBInk, aborting!
[CLI] Failed to initialize FBInk, aborting . . .
Device Details:
- Device: reMarkable 2
- OS Version: 3.25.1.1
- Installation Method: Vellum / XOVI
- KOReader Version: 2025.10-r1
It seems like the current FBInk binary/library included in this build might not be playing nice with the framebuffer changes in this OS version. Is there a specific flag I should use for 3.x firmware, or is a newer build of FBInk required for this kernel?
Any help would be appreciated!
