I am experimenting with using writer/rewriter for writing and editing HTML/JS/CSS code in a client-side HTML editor: https://github.com/eyaler/ediking
My implementation is quite naive and I know the models are not tuned for this task.
I identified several logical patterns that I am addressing: writing from scratch, full code rewrite, missing code completion, and partial code rewrite. The high-level logic is explained in the readme. There is also auto-pilot (infinite rewriting loop) mode :)

Some would-be-nice-tos:

• Control the length param dynamically in the write/rewrite functions (the docs suggest this may be possible for tone but I guess its a bug since that's not in the spec)
• Fine grained control of length param
• Easier way to continue generating with the dynamic context (e.g. if output was truncated)
• Possibility to override sharedContext on-the-fly in the write/rewrite functions
• Programming languages as input/output languages?
• Instead of low-quality output NotSupportedError or bad content output NotReadableError, give me the scores and let me decide for myself

Thanks for this helpful feedback! On some specific things, I think the API already accommodates them:

For this, you can create new writer/rewriter instances. Is there a reason you don't do so?

• Possibility to override sharedContext on-the-fly in the write/rewrite functions

For this, just use context instead of sharedContext. sharedContext is only useful for things that are shared between all calls.
