Default WriterCreateOptions values

I'm curious about the spec's default WriterCreateOptions values, specifically for format ("markdown"), and length ("short"):

Other default options seem pretty straightforward, but perhaps these two were copied from Summarizer, without specific intention?

I suggest default writer options to be "plain-text" format (seems much more sensible) and "medium" length (maybe short is better though!).
WDYT? We can update the Chromium impl to match spec once we resolve this question.

Hmm. I'm not sure that Markdown makes any more or less sense as a default for writer vs. summarizer. In both cases, Markdown is more expressive, but plain text is more ... plain.

I agree that on a short/medium/long scale, medium seems more neutral for writer. But then again, maybe it's nicer to just default to something less computationally taxing and easier for the reader to process, so that sites have to opt-in to anything longer?

From what I've seen I believe that most folks are opting for plain-text.
For the length, I'm not sure of any preferred value but I like Domenic's argument.

I'll report back if we have metrics on these aspects and it differs from the above.
