The best way to implement onboard recharging of a boat such as this is to install a solar panel array on the deck. The array would need to be sized such that under a defined ‘normal’ light intensity for a defined ‘normal’ period per day, the boat would be capable of charging its batteries from empty to full, under the assumption that the batteries can last at least 24 hours. Optimization is needed to determine the best way to ensure the boat can maximize its time spent recording data and minimize its time spent idle while recharging. Ideally this time would be zero.
