Older Aurora versions do not allow
SHOWcommands to be executed via replication channel. Thecurrent_settingfunction is an alternative to retrieving the version that uses DML.Tested locally against Aurora 13.20.
Motivation
Fixes compatibility issues with older versions of Aurora and parallel snapshot.
