Hi @northdpole, came across this RFC and found it really interesting.
The idea of scoping imports per-standard and having a staging area before touching the main graph solves something that's always felt risky about the current setup. One thing I was curious about 'in Module C', how does the diff engine handle standards where control IDs aren't very stable across versions? Would it fall back to anything like text matching, or is stable IDs a hard requirement from the standard's side?
I've been contributing to OpenCRE and also to Cornucopia recently so I'm interested in potentially exploring this for GSoC if there's room.
