--versioncommand-line argument (or--ver,-V,-hfor help) is a common convention to display the version of a program. While it's not a literal function call, the shell interprets this as a command-line argument that tells the program to execute its built-in version-checking routine and print the result to the terminal. E.g.,ls --versionoutputs the version of thelscommand.--versionas well as-Vto output the version on stdout and then exit;OPTIONS="--verbose 8"Issue: #330
