The subworking group LIDO2RDF was founded in July 2024 by Angela Kailus (NFDI4Culture, German Documentation Center for Art History – Bildarchiv Foto Marburg, Philipps University of Marburg) and Anja Gerber (NFDI4Objects, Klassik Stiftung Weimar) in the german LIDO working group.
The WG brings together all relevant stakeholders involved in mapping LIDO-XML to RDF, including NFDI4Objects, NFDI4Culture, the University of Munich, DigiCult, and the French Ministry of Culture. It takes into account preliminary work that has already been carried out in this field. It is currently coordinated by Anja Gerber and Andreas Frech (University Library of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich).
The objective of the group is to develop mappings from LIDO XML to CIDOC CRM triples (subject–predicate–object) in order to translate statements for use in knowledge graphs and other semantic web applications. The work focuses on LIDO 1.0 and LIDO 1.1 and is based on CIDOC CRM version 7.1.3 (ISO 21127:2023).
Initially, the mappings are based on the Minimum Record Recommendation for Museums and Collections of the AG Minimaldatensatz but will be expanded to more elements and classes. An important aspect of the group’s work is the exchange and discussion of mapping approaches within the working group, as well as the further development of the X3ML mapper by the Verbundzentrale Göttingen.
